Meet family member number 2. Sally, a beautiful tiny blue whippet. Sally came to live with me on new years eve just before Covid hit. Millie was lonely and I wanted to get her a little whippet friend. I noticed Sally on the Cork Dog Action Welfare website and got in touch.
Unlike any of the dogs I'd fostered or adopted in the past, Sally wasn't a stray, she had come from a home situation. Unfortunately she needed to be rehomed due to a marriage breakdown. From that night on, she just fitted in seamlessly. It was like she'd always been here, a very different experience for me, as she needed absolutely no training and didn’t have a traumatic past. She was an absolute breeze! Adopted at the age of 9, I had prepared myself to get two maybe three years with her if I was lucky. Four years later and thank goodness she's still going strong. At 13 years of age now she sometimes gets confused, has occasional accidents in the house and likes to know where i am at all times. She follows me everywhere! She's a bit of a princess and generally turns her nose up at non-human food. Being a mature lady, she takes no nonsense and only does what she wants to do, which you have to respect of course.
My favourite thing about her is the cute old lady noises she makes when she settles down to sleep and how she loves to snuggle with you. Not to mention how beautiful she is! Needless to say, she's become quite the model here and I've painted her many times. In the next blog post I'll introduce the latest edition to my family, my brindle boy, Stanley. Leave a comment if you like. Do you own a whippet? What's your favourite thing about them?
Sally, my little blue whippet ♡
