About

Originally from Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, I  now live in wexford with my 3 rescue dogs.
Art and animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with many pets and we were always taking in the waifs and strays of the neighbourhood. In school I was always doodling in my notebooks and when art class came around that was where I thrived. Later in life I studied Fine Art and received my diploma from Bray Institute of Further Education. I then went on to continue my studies in Fine Art at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. It made total sense to me to combine my two passions, my love for animals and creativity.
I have such a love of dogs and was lucky enough to work with them for many years, training, rescuing and studying their behaviour. I have a particular affinity with sighthounds, the breed group that includes whippets and greyhounds.
How did I get here? Working as an artist? It wasn't a straightforward path. When I left school I studied makeup for film and television in IADT and worked in that industry for a time. I then worked in various 9 to 5 jobs. I found the daily grind of office work soul destroying and detrimental to my mental health. I needed to make a change .I went on to study silversmithing and then fine art. I created for a short time and this helped me through the pain of the sudden loss of my dog "Doug" who lived with me in my 20's. I decided to set up a rescue for dogs and helped by fostering rehoming and adopting. I also worked with dogs in a daycare setting. Throughout this period my creativity took a back seat completely. Then came a turning point, one day I was working in daycare, the dogs were running blindly in play and knocked me to the ground. My kneecap was injured and i had to take time out to recover. During that time, I picked up a paintbrush again. That was 10 years ago and ive been working as an artist ever since.
So what is my art about? Fundamentally it's about love and connection. The connection we have with an animal, a place, a moment in nature. When I paint, I channel that love and connection and share it with the viewer
If you've ever felt that kind of connection hopefully my art resonates with you.

Although I'm only small (it's just me!), It's important to me to do my bit for the environment. I make a conscious effort to package all my handmade items in recycled packaging. I also, wherever possible order my supplies from companies with similar ethical policies.
I try to regularly raise funds for dogs in rescues in the UK and Ireland from my artwork and
I have been commissioned to paint people's pets from all over the world.
